With non-stop, affordable flights to Zurich from the US, not to mention easy access from pretty much every part of Europe, the cosmopolitan Swiss city is perfect for a long getaway this summer.  With a range of activities on offer from hikes to exploring the city’s rich history and enjoying culinary specialties, there’s something for everyone.

Combining sophisticated urban life with easy access to the region’s great outdoors, explore Zurich this summer with Atlantis by Giardino’s 3-day itinerary to get a taste of the city’s diverse offerings. The stylish urban retreat is situated at the base of the Uetliberg mountain and is a landmark property fit for the jet-set. Completely renovated with a 1970’s vintage-style, it has a range of guestroom options, including the largest hotel suite in all of Europe at an impressive 21,000 square feet. It is also home to a spectacular spa with modern and Ayurvedic treatments and a two-Michelin-starred restaurant.

Giardino Hotels launched in 2008 under the direction of Daniela and Philippe Frutiger. It is a boutique collection of four properties in Switzerland including Atlantis by Giardino in Zurich, Giardino Mountain in Champfèr near St. Moritz, Giardino Ascona and Giardino Lago on Lake Maggiore. “Giardino”, meaning “garden” in Italian, represents the ethos behind the brand – places of regeneration which are full of individuality and where every detail deserves its very own moment. The properties define themselves with a casual atmosphere, understated, yet upscale service, characterful design and Mediterranean joie de vivre, and just like a garden, offer guests a surprisingly fresh interpretation of luxury hotels with creative dining. Giardino combines the most attractive facets of Switzerland with a healthy portion of sunny hospitality.

Day 1

Upon arrival, unpack and unwind at Atlantis by Giardino’s dipiù spa. A staple of the Giardino properties, the spa offers an extensive menu of treatments including the popular Kati-Basti, a long-lasting back massage with oils used to alleviate back pain, muscle hardening and degenerative spinal conditions and the Botanical Skin Resurfacing™ Facial Treatment, a plant-based alternative to microdermabrasion and chemical peelings. Relax at the only outdoor pool in all of Zurich and enjoy the popular steam bath. In the evening you can enjoy an on property fine dining experience at Ecco Restaurant which has two Michelin Stars and a constantly changing menu and creative cuisine.

Day 2

After breakfast, take advantage of Giardino’s complimentary shuttle service to the city-center and explore Zurich’s cultural highlights and boutiques. Take a stroll along the sleek storefronts of Bahnhofstrasse – the 5th Avenue of Zurich – which stretches across Old Town to Lake Zurich. Enjoy a picnic lunch at Lindenhof, the fourth-century fort turned elevated park with trees, benches and games. Afterward, visit one of Zurich’s 100 art galleries, several renowned museums including the Museum of Art and the Swiss National Museum or indulge in some shopping at one of the many high end boutiques. For dinner, return to Atlantis by Giardino’s Hide & Seek restaurant or visit one of the local restaurants for some famous Swiss Fondue or Raclette.

Day 3

After exploring Zurich’s art and culture scene get outdoors on a hike excursion in the nearby Uetliberg Mountain or swimming in stunning Lake Zurich. Those interested in seeing the city from above can navigate through the Alps and take in the breathtaking views by flying with Giardino’s “air taxi”, a helicopter excursion arranged upon request. Return at night to enjoy a cocktail and a fine dining experience at Ecco, or a nightcap at the Cigar Lounge, decked out with Oxblood red wing chairs made from the finest velvet and where cigar enthusiasts can enjoy a wide range of Habanos and Davidoff cigars.
